  1. Poker

Poker is one of the most well-known card games across the world. In recent years, it has gained popularity around India, thanks to the rise of its online version and various Hollywood movies featuring poker in their plot.

Poker is a casino game that requires immense control over your emotions. It is packed with a healthy dose of fun and entertainment. The game revolves around creating combinations and placing a wager on the type of combination your competitor has.

Poker is played by 2 to 10 players using 5 cards each. Each player is dealt 2 cards at first placed face down, which become the hole cards. Later, 5 more cards are dealt, which are placed face up. Using these cards, they have to create a 5-card poker hand. The players have two options: either place a wager or do nothing. When a player opts to bet, he gets three more options: call, fold or raise.

In this game, it is not necessary to win with the best possible hand. Players can win even with a bad hand by bluffing their opponents to fold (drop out).

  1. Teen Patti

Teen Patti is one of the staple games often played at Diwali parties. This game has become very popular in recent years after its breakthrough feature in a Bollywood movie that goes by the same name. It has been highly inspired by the British card game 3-card brag and somewhat resembles American poker.

In teen patti, 3 to 6 players participate in a game where each player is dealt 3 cards. Players then have to place a wager on the best hand and put in their stakes in a pot. Players can either play as blind players or seen players. The winner of the game takes away the winning amount.

  1. Bluff

Bluff allows a player to lie and deceive their opponents, all in a good humor. It is commonly known by the names “BS” and “cheat.” It can be won with the right set of strategies and a bit of luck. While playing the game, players must put on a facade and observe their opponents to analyze their next moves.

Bluff is played by 3 to 10 players using one standard deck of 52 cards. The game requires a player to either reveal their cards or simply bluff. If the cards are guessed correctly, that player wins the game and takes away the cards of the losing players.

  1. Three-Two-Five (3-2-5)

Three-Two-Five is a trick-taking game that is popular across India, Nepal and Pakistan. It is known for its simple game play, which makes it easy to learn. Usually 3 players participate in a game and play using a 30-card deck (cards from 2 to through 6 of all suits as well as two 7s are removed). Only 7♥ and 7♠ are used in the game. The objective is to take on at least two deals in the game.

The player sitting to the right of the dealer plays the first move. The other players have to play higher-value cards from the same suit. If players do not have a card from the same suit, they can play a trump card and win the trick. The player with the highest trump card wins the trick. Post 10 tricks, everyone has to check if the number of tricks won are 2, 3 and 5.

Of course the list doesn’t end here! There are plenty of card games available that will amp up your party excitement to another level. You can ask your guests to pick a game and throw in a few stakes to add thrill to the celebrations. We wish you a very happy Diwali and we hope that this year brings happiness and prosperity to you and your loved ones.

Happy Diwali and happy gaming!
