Junglee Rummy Partners with Judgementall Hai Kya: A Psychological Thriller

Zany, quirky, edgy, surreal… These are the words that come to mind as soon as one steps out of the theater after watching the Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao-starrer "Judgementall Hai Kya." The movie received a positive response from the critics for not being a conventional Bollywood thriller. As seen in some of the popular tweets by N S Saran, MissMalini, Jordan, Ved Prakash, Vishnu Induri and Rachit Gupta, it is not a typical Bollywood thriller but the trailblazing screenplay and performance has left everyone amazed.

“Judgementall Hai Kya” is a dark psychological comedy produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R. Singh under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures. Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao gained a lot of appreciation for their acting from the audience as well as critics. The duo have reunified after five years of their first excursion together in Vikas Bahl's critically acclaimed film Queen.

Prakash Kovelamudi’s narrative style, as well as Kanika Dhillon’s script, was quite easy-going and got instantly absorbed by the audience. The pastiche of the scenes, characters and sound play ensures that the spirit of the movie remains intact throughout the story.

The movie takes the audience for a whirlwind ride, and the congruous performance of Rao and Ranaut is a delight to watch. Kangana Ranaut gets into the skin of the character, and one cannot miss her meta moments in the film. She is funny and alarming at the same time, while Rajkummar Rao proves why he is one of the best sparkling gems Bollywood has right now.

In "Judgementall Hai Kya," Kangana Ranaut portrays the character of Bobby, a voice-over artist, who is suffering from an acute psychosis. As Bobby, she has perfectly captured the mind of a damaged and deranged woman, which sometimes even urges the audience to reach out to tell her things are going to be fine. She stays in her contorted world and imagines characters and often hears voices.

Kangana’s assorted sense of fashion and dark humor makes the audience roll with laughter. Her playful games, choosing a three-month asylum over Rs 20,000 fine and skepticism show the traits of the mad hatter. She trusts no one but her mind. The story takes a frenzied turn as soon as Bobby’s imaginary world (often, blurring) starts turning into a shocking reality.

Rajkummar Rao plays the character of Keshav, who is the new tenant of Kangana aka Bobby here. He looks smoking hot and fits perfectly in the role of a modern-day macho and edgy man. 

Before "Judgementall Hai Kya," Rao wasn’t seen in any such role. But here he pulls off this character with great ease. His glib-talker act leaves audience and critics greatly impressed. Rajkummar’s performance has been consistent in the last few movies. In "Judgementall Hai Kya," he has shown there are still a lot of genres that he is going to explore in the future.

Apart from Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao, Jimmy Sheirgill has also impressed the audience as he breaks out of the characters he has been playing lately. Hussain Dalal brings in the comic quotient in the movie. He is goofy but lovable.

Just like Junglee Rummy tournaments and daily offers, "Judgementall Hai Kya" lives up to the audience’s expectations. The movie is like a live wire that gives you a rich concoction of thriller and comedy. The fantastic duo have exploded fireworks on the big screens in the first few days only.
