Buraco Rummy is a variation of Canasta Rummy where four players play in fixed partnership to lay down combination of cards in groups and sequences. Buraco Rummy is said to have originated in Uruguay and Argentina in the mid-1940s and its name derives from the Portuguese word ?Buraco?.
Buraco is played with two 52-card decks where team members sit opposite to each other. The opponent sitting to the right of the dealer has to make an attempt to cut the deck in exactly 22 cards. If a player is successful in cutting the deck in exactly 22 cards off the top of the deck, then the team gets 100 extra points. Two hands of 11 cards are made and are stacked at the corner of the table to make the ?Pots?.
11 cards are distributed by the dealer to each player and the remaining 38 cards are placed face down in the centre of the table to form the ?Stock?. Both the teams need to make their own collection of cards called as ?Runs?.

Sequences: A group of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit arranged in a sequential order. For example,

Groups: A group of three or more face-value cards of the same value. For example,

Wildcards: All deuces are wild cards that can substitute any card in a run. For example,
3?-4?-5?-6?-7?- 2?- 9?
The first team that scores 3000 points or more with runs or groups win the game. Different cards have different points; for example, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 have 5 points each and cards 2, 8, 9, 10, J, Q and K have 10 points each; Aces serve different values as it has 15 points, while Jokers carry 20 points.
