Panguingue was traditionally played with 320 cards of eight decks of playing cards without all eights, nines, tens, and Jokers. In some places, 5 or 6 decks of cards are used and the game is played by removing one set of spades. Every player has to pay an ante one chip called as the ‘top’ while some games use two chip ante called as ‘double tops’. 10 cards are dealt to each player and the players have the option to either fold or continue with the game. If a player folds, he/she loses the ‘top’. Every player has to form melds of three or four cards in the same rank or sequences of running cards in the same suit.
Panguingue is quite different from online free gameplay of 13 cards rummy at JungleeRummy. Players need to draw a card from the closed deck or the top card of the discard pile. However, when a player draws a card form the closed deck, he/she has to use that card to make a valid meld on the table or immediately discard it. When a player melds 11 cards, he/she receives the ‘tops’ along with additional payment from active players.
