Rummy is one of the most loved card games, and we are sure that most of the people have played or at least watched someone play the game in their lifetime. However, not many people know the logic behind the rules that dictate the game.
In this blog post, we are going to look at some rules that exist not because of the technicalities involved, but to solve simple yet complex challenges:
This rule was devised to ensure that every player has a fair chance at the game and there are no favors and no bias whatsoever.
Arguably this one is the most logical one because if the rule were to be reversed, and players needed to throw cards first and pick them later, rummy would lose its position as a game of skill and instead become a game of luck. Now you know!
This rule again means that rummy is indeed a game of skill and has very little to do with luck. So the option to drop a game prevents players from losing all of their points and gives them a chance to drop in case of a weak hand. It requires them to calculate their odds of winning before they decide to drop out of the game.
The Joker can quickly change the entire course of a game of rummy. Therefore, this rule was devised to stop anyone from gaining the upper hand due to the possession of too many Jokers.
Imagine a game where someone has a whole lot of Jokers. Without the rule that requires forming at least one pure sequence, a player having multiple Jokers would easily win a game of rummy.
So, tell us in comments below what you think about the logic behind these rules.
Until next time... Keep playing, keep winning!
