How to Play Deals Rummy

Deals Rummy is typically played using one or two standard decks of cards, including Jokers. The game begins with chips allocation to each player at the table. The number of chips is pre-defined and so is the number of deals.

The objective of the game is to create sequences, or sequences and sets. For a valid declaration, there should be at least two sequences out of which at least one must be a pure sequence. After arranging your cards, you can finish a deal by discarding the 14th card to the “Finish Slot” and then declaring your hand. If your declaration is valid, you will be the winner of the deal.

Play: A random toss is made to decide which player will make the first move. Then cards are dealt and each player gets 13 cards. The remaining cards from the deck form the closed deck. The cards discarded by players form a part of the open deck, which is kept face up. On each turn, a player has to pick a card and then discard an unwanted card.

How Is the Score Calculated in Deals Rummy?

The values of the cards are given below.

  • Card
  • Value
  • Joker Value in Deals Rummy Jack, Queen, King, Ace
  • 10 points each
  • Numbered Card Value in Deals Rummy Numbered cards
  • Worth their face values
  • High Value Cards in Deals Rummy Jokers (printed & wild)
  • Zero
  • Same Suits Card in Deals Rummy Example: King , 5, 9
  • 10 points, 5 points, 9 points

The Winner’s Score: The player who meets the objective first is the winner and gets zero points. The formula used to calculate the winnings for each deal in Deals Rummy is as follows:

Winnings = (Entry Fee × Number of Players) – Junglee Rummy Fee.

For example, 2 players are playing a Deals Rummy game and the entry fee is Rs. 10 each. The first player wins the game. The winnings will be calculated as follows:

Winnings = (Rs. 10x2) – Junglee Rummy Fee.

Losing Players’ Score: The score of a player who loses a deal is calculated by adding up the values of the cards not arranged in sequences or sets by the player, and it is capped at 80 points. That means a player can get a maximum of 80 points irrespective of the total value of his/her cards. For example, if your cards are worth 100 points, your score will still be 80.

Deal Show: When a player makes a valid declaration before the first turn of his/her opponent, it is called a deal show. In case of a deal show, the losing player gets half his/her total points. For example, if the total value of the losing player’s cards is 40, the player will get 20 points.

The minimum points that a losing player can get is 2.

The maximum points a losing player can get in case of a deal show is 40 (for ungrouped cards worth 80 points or more).

Penalty for Missing 3 Consecutive Turns in Deals Rummy

When a player misses three consecutive turns, he/she is dropped out of the deal automatically, with a penalty of 80 points.
